In the development of new drugs, it is important to have control of how much of a delivered dose that is actually absorbed over the gut wall or over the lung epithelium. The simulation program GI-Sim/Lung-Sim developed by AstraZeneca in collaboration with Wendelsbergs beräkningskemi and Uppsala universitet simulates the path from swallowing a tablet or inhaling a nebulized drug all the way to blood and elimination.
